Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about the AMERICAN COACHING ACADEMY?  Check out some of our most frequently asked questions below!

Q: What kind of programs do you offer?

A: The ACA is an online training center that provides educational resources for youth and high school coaches.

Our signature program is the ACA Online Coaching Certification, and we also offer a number of other programs related to specific topics like Motivation, Sports Psychology, and Parent Management. See our complete list of programs here.

Q: What type of coach is this program designed for?

A: All ACA course material is designed to meet the needs of youth and high school coaches of all competitive levels.

Our students come from a variety of sports backgrounds, including basketball, football, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, track and field, wrestling, lacrosse, swimming, tennis and cheerleading.

ACA courses are open to coaches in all countries (including Canada, Australia, the UK and others).   You do not have to be a resident of the United States to enroll.

Q: Why do I need to get certified?

A: Sports organizations across the country are now requiring coaches to receive training in the fundamentals of coaching.

Even if your organization does not require certification, the education you will receive will boost your credibility, increase your confidence in your knowledge and abilities, and give you a valuable, nationally recognized credential that proves your commitment to your coaching role.

You will discover how to work with parents, create a positive learning environment, keep your athletes safe and healthy, and help them excel in sports and skill development.

ACA programs are unique because your entire certification is completed online.  There are no thick textbooks to read or dull seminars to travel to.  You complete everything on your own schedule and at your own pace.

Q: How long does the program take to complete?

A: The ACA Online Certification consists of eight individual courses. Each course is designed to take approximately one hour to complete from start to finish.

All programs are completely self-paced. There are no live tests, deadlines, or live classes you must attend. All of your progress is saved in our system, so you can start and stop on your own schedule, and pick up where you left off at any time. Some of our students complete the program in a few days, while others take several months. It's up to you!

Q: Is there any special computer program or software required?

A: You can complete the course online using any computer.  No special software, computer programs, or anything else is required.  All you need is Internet access.

Q: Do I have to take an exam in order to receive my certification?

A: In the ACA Online Certification and Parent Management programs you will be asked to complete a 20 question multiple choice style exam at the end of each course.  You need to achieve a 75% or better on this exam in order to receive your certificate.

Our online seminars, like the Champions Summit and Ultimate Success Formula, do not require you to pass an exam.

Q: Will I receive proof of my certification?

A: Yes. After completing the certification, you will be able to print out a customized certificate with your name and completion date directly from your computer screen. You will also receive a transcript listing your grades on each exam, and you will be included in our Honor Roll ticker found on the home page.
