SAFETY

Children should try not to get hit while they maintain awareness of the other children around them.

PURPOSE

Here's a fun spin on dodgeball, where the aim is to race out and collect as many beanbags as possible from the "safe" zone, while the thrower tries to hit them with a ball.

SETUP

Divide the class into 4-6 teams of even numbered children.  Set up the playing area as shown.

INSTRUCTIONS

The aim is to race out and collect as many beanbags as possible from the end (safe) zone.

The throwers aim to hit runners below the waist.  If a thrower hits a runner, the runner goes back to their group and tags the next person in line, who then races out and tries to collect a beanbag.

Any runner that has a beanbag and gets hit on the way back must throw/place the beanbag back into the end (safe) zone.

The team that collects the most beanbags is the winner.

MODIFICATIONS

Add more throwers to make it harder, or less to make it easier.

This game is best played indoors with walls.  If you play outside you can have "collectors" on the side lines who throw the balls back in or try to hit runners as well, but they cannot move into the field of play.
