SAFETY
Children must watch where they are running. They can only free other children by crawling through their legs from front to back.
PURPOSE
Santa is the chaser, all the other kids are the reindeer. Santa runs around the room trying to tag reindeer. If he tags one, they freeze in their spot with legs apart and one hand in the air. (The image below 'circles' kids who are caught.) To get free, an untagged reindeer must crawl between the legs of the child caught.
SETUP
No real setup, just spread your students around the room and pick one child to be the chaser.
INSTRUCTIONS
Pick one child to be the chaser.
The rest of the students are reindeer.
On 'go' Santa chases the reindeer around the room by trying to tag them. There are no safety bases to rest.
Each time Santa tags a reindeer, they freeze in the spot with their legs spread apart and one hand in the air which symbolizes they need to be freed.
If an untagged reindeer can crawl in between a child's legs who is caught without being tagged themselves, they have freed the frozen reindeer who can now start running around the room again.
MODIFICATIONS
To make it harder, you can pick two chasers.
To make it easier, you can create safety bases where children cannot be tagged.
